BEACH PARK ROAD IS NOW CLOSED TO ALL THRU TRAFFIC. As the tidal gate/bridge replacement is underway, vehicles will not be able to travel south of Route 1 beyond Osprey Commons. All roads to the south of that point may only be accessed via Causeway and Shore Road. BE ADVISED THAT THERE ARE NO ALTERNATE ROUTES AROUND THE CLOSURE. All streets in the area of the closure do not bypass the bridge closure. Detour signs are posted.  Police will have increased patrols in the area. Please obey all traffic laws and allow a little extra time to safely travel through the area. 

Marcia Kalayjian reached out to a friend who is a horticulturist to ask what might be done about the investation of spotted lantern flies.  These flies are an invasive species that can damage local plants.  As a silver lining, they are especially attracted to the Tree of Heaven, which itself is an unsightly and aggressively invasive species.  Marcia’s friend shared the a paper from Penn State that offers advice for controling Lantern Flies.  It can be found at this link:

Residents who might be considering treating trees on their property can reach out to either SavATree in Old Saybrook (860-858-1610) or the Tree Company from Haddam (860 -452-4228).  There are systemic treatments available, depending on what kind of trees you want to preserve.  If you have any Trees of Heaven on your property which you would like to remove, it’s worth consulting with one of these resources, and effective removal can be more complicated than just cutting them down.

Jennifer O’Brien recounted her interactions with the Town of Clinton over the winter with respect to appealing the valuation of her property. In particular, she noted that land values of GBIA properties were higher per-square-foot than those in Ridgewood and on Hammock Road. Jen would be happy to collaborate with any residents who are interested in making the case to the town for more reasonable and consistent valuations. TO MEMBERS OF THE GROVE BEACH IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION

The full amount of taxes levied on the Grand List of October 1, 2025 is due and payable July 1, 2026. If these taxes are not paid before August 3, 2026, they become delinquent and will be subject to interest at the rate of 1½% per month calculated from July 1. The minimum interest charge is $2.00. Tax payments are payable to the Grove Beach Improvement Association and should be mailed to the GBIA, PO Box 50, Clinton, CT 06413.
